#SOL16
Day 5

     "Mom, where's my Jake costume?"

"I don't know, Keira. Where did you take it off?"

     "I don't know, Mom.  I looked everywhere."

"Did you look downstairs?  I think that is where you took it off."

Stomp, stomp, stomp.  She goes down the stairs, walks across the room, and yells, "Nope.  Not there.  I told you."

For a second, I think about not giving her a response.  After her 5 year old "I told you so" I could let her struggle.  But, then the tears would come. And I just don't feel like tears.  So, I ask the only question that would make sense.

"Keira, did you check the costume bin?"

She walks over to it, and immediately says, "Well, why is it in there?"

It suddenly makes sense to me why none of their toys are ever in the right place.  Obviously, to her, those are not the right places.  Hopefully that will change when she turns 6.  Otherwise we might be in for another messy, but fun filled year.

I'll be prepared for the mess.

  1. What a delightful story. 5 years olds have a mind of their own.
