There I was was, walking home from a conference on the streets of Chicago, making my way to my car. I had parked a little farther away than a reasonable driver would, simply from fear of city driving and avoidance of rainy day traffic in the loop. But, here, on this city street 7 hours later, I found my rainbow.
Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Is that Garretts?
I showed some restraint, and chose a small cheddar carmel mix. I walked back to my car, with quick stops at the Bean, and the symphony practice at the park, proudly clutching my bag of treasure like Laverne and Shirley would their purses. Once again, a tourist in my own city, headed back home with a souvenir, making my dreams come true my way.
Keys in the ignition. Lakeshore Drive with the windows down. Fingers covered in orange dust.
Perhaps I should have chosen the medium.
(Ok, for those of you who don't know who Laverne and Shirley are, here is their theme song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJzF8_df1R8&noredirect=1)
That looks yummy! I think you definitely should get the medium next time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great slice of life!
ReplyDeleteAnd I so remember Laverne & Shirley! It was one of my favorites!
Loved this..."I found my rainbow."...I have never heard that line before!
I like how you brought up Laverne & Shirley and then echoed the theme song subtly in the next sentence. I also enjoyed the details such as the symphony practice in the park and the orange dust on your fingers.
